Can some DVD players be incompatible with new TV sets? Can some DVD players be incompatible with new TV sets? I just bought a 37" Samsung telly and it is brilliant! However, one problem: with some DVD discs, all the colour becomes pale and greeny. My DVD machine is a Toshiba dual DVD/VCR player. However, when I played the DVDs in question on a multi-region player, the colour was normal.
Are they going to stop making boxed TV sets soon? I was at Wal-Mart recently looking at TV sets and it seems like most their TV's for sale were the flat screen TV sets. I only saw 2-3 TV's for sale that were the box kind (that weren't super thin and I think they call them boxed TV's because they're bigger). Do you think boxed TV sets are going to stop being sold soon and only the super skinny flat screen TV's will only be sold?
A factory was required to produce a certain number of plasma tv sets in 4 days. On the first day,? A factory was required to produce a certain number of plasma tv sets in 4 days. On the first day, the factory produced one seventh of the required number of tv sets. On the second day, it produced 30 sets. On the third day, it produced as many tv sets as those produced on the first 2 days. On the fourth day, the factory completed the remaining 25 sets. How man plasma tv sets did the factory produce on the third day?
How would I get a job on TV sets, maintenance, programmes etc? Where would i look to get a job on TV? I am a skilled tradesman and I am wondering if skilled tradesman are needed to put sets together, take apart, repair and so on. Who would be the best people to talk to and what would the money be like if a job like this could be found? hope someone can help
Do they make LCD TV sets without a built-in tuner? I don't really need a built-in tuner in my TV set, because I have digital cable which I can feed using RCA inputs. Same for other components. I would need only the screen and speakers. Are such units cheaper than ones that have a tuner?
How could I connect 2 TV sets to 1 Sky Digibox? I've tried connecting one TV via the SCART and one via the RF Coaxial cable. The problems is, the scart works fine, but the coax connection has bad picture quality but ok sound. This is so I can watch football in my kitchen. Thanks for any answers
Do Cathay Pacific have TV sets in the back of seats? I am flying from the UK to Australia in February flying Cathay Pacific. I have heard they are a good airline. However a friend said that she has flew with them and they didn't have TV/entertainment units in the back of the seats - just a movie projected onto a wall. Anyone have any experience they can share? Thanks so much.
How does the smoking ban affect things like TV sets? I know its been up here in Scotland for a while now but I haven't noticed people smoking on tv. It will be more obvious when it comes in force in England. Will Pat and Dot still smoke in Eastenders? I know we can't get harmedWATCHIN G them smoke, my question is that the set is obviously a place of work inside with crew around so does that mean they won't be able to smoke!
I have a huge armoire, old TV sets, gears, etc.. got any cool steampunk ideas for my stuff? I've got a tall blue armoire, 2 old TV sets, knick-knack gears all around, license plates, bicycle's wheels, 3 old bicycles, etc... what are some cool steampunk ideas I can use my little treasures to create? I really want to do something with the armoire, it's beautiful but I'm not interested in putting clothes and;or a tv in it.... thanks ;)
What new TV sets do you all recommend? Best bang for your buck? My husband would like a TV for Christmas. We mainly use it for watching movies and normal viewing....no games. I have heard about plasmas and HD...but what is the best for the money? I would probably get one about medium sized ...not a huge screen. Any thoughts out there? Trying to make a cost effective decision.
Questions About The History of Early TV Sets? With the new Digital TV conversion now completed, I am very interested in the early history of TV. What year did the first models of TV sets appear? How many brands were there during that first year? How much did they cost? Jeff
why do we still have/allow regular tv sets to be sold in america? we live in a country that mandate what emmissions are allowed to power producers and scrap yard and sewage treatment plants and such. Yet we still buy tv's that take far more material to build, cost the manufacturer more, and create a larger amount of waste at both the manufacturing and post consumer stages. Why do we not outlaw the manufacture and importation of any further models of these. The smoke from all the poor idiots still smoking cigs will dissapate, but that giant landfill of crap you find your new house built on will create problem now and well into the future. just an afterthought, the cost of the lcd, plasma and other newer tech tv's has nothing to do with production cost but more to do with supposedly recouping r&d costs the fastest, not a very honest way to do bussiness when you realize that long term sales and smart innovations would make you a more stable, sustainable income. Look at the airline business, selling cheap fares on practically empty planes to a rabid consumer public that thinks it a right to fly where and when they want regardless of the actual cost financially and societally yeesh, the sarcasm dripping off of some of the answers to my question ! lcd screens are 55 plus year old tech, not very new, someone, somewhere, has had a production facility and the machines and material available to make them for the gov. and business for a lot of years now. Also, it is not a strict matter of freedom, if it were, you could smoke a cigarette anywhere you wished, fill your old style lp. cylinder for you grill, burn your garbage in a barrel in your back yard or any number of other things that are now regulated by law. The computer industry is probably the fastest growing contributor to toxic waste in the world, right above consumer use of batteries to run every little convenience people want. I just thought that just as the computer industry is coming up with programs and the means to deal with thier machines, the consumer electronics market could reasonably be asked what they intend to do about one of thier problems, the crt tv and or the crt television set
Is it still possible to buy "new" NTSC TV sets? I mean, with this transition to digital and switchoff and all that stuff, is any factory in the world still manufacturing NTSC TV sets? When did they (if they did) cease manufacturing analog TV sets?
What are your thoughts on Vizio brand HD TV sets? According to my Feb. '09 Consumer Reports magazine, they don't rank that well overall, getting anywhere from a 69 to a 75 overall rating out of a possible 100. The 47" set (VO47LF) getting the best score. They did, however, rank quite high on the reliability scaling. Is this a case of "you get what you pay for" (considering they're quite cheap when compared to a top of the line Samsung)
how do i link 2 tv sets with one x box? i only have one x box 360 and 2 tv sets im tired of playing multiplayer games on split screen so is there a way i can make the image get split between the 2 tvs?
why tv sets have vents in walls of casing? a portable tv can operate on mains power (240V) or by a 12V battery. Why does the tv set need to have vents in the walls of its casing? physics/electricity terms would be appreciated as this is a question in my physics homework. i have no idea how to answer it. thanks in advance
What should I do with my old TV sets? They will not work after this Friday and they are so old that they don't even have a coaxial connection (they're 300 ohm connectors). The Salvation Army won't take them. I tried giving them away on Craig's List and Free Cycle. No takers. Too bad - they are working color TVs.
Why is there such a big fuss in UK about High Definition TV ready TV sets? Are we being duped? For a large number of households HDTV is only available through Sky and only after paying a monthly subscription and parting with around 300 of GBP for the HDTV box. With the confusion about HDTV DVD standards and high prices of the sets I do not really believe that anybody would buy such a TV set just to watch a DVD film. I hear that freeview HDTV channels will not be available outside of Sky or Telewest cable TV packages for at least a year or two. I think some people did not understand my point. I've seen the presentations and am absolutely thrilled by the quality of HDTV. What annoys me - the HDTV sets have been around for probably more than a year, and I have got one myself. But what the really annoying thing is that I cannot watch HDTV unless I pay 300 pounds to Sky for a HDTV box and the subscription fee. I leave almost in the middle of London (Canary Wharf) and have learned that Telewest does not cover my area. And actually - why is it that HDTV sets are not made with the HDTV boxes built in. There does not seem to be a problem with different standards, as it was the case with digital TV (ITV Digital vs. Sky Digital). We are supposedly buying these "forward looking" sets, yet we will have to cope with what we remember from the early days of Digital - additional boxes on the top of our TV sets.
tv sets sold last year in American? I'm doing a report on television and I wanted to get an estimate of the number of tv set sold in American last year? Does anyone know the rough numbers?
I Need An Expert On The Value Of Vintage TV Sets!? I have recently come into possession of a very rare model TV set from 1967. Called "The Two Thousand," it's made by RCA. It is my understanding that there were only a total of 2000 of these sets manufactured. I also understand that they went for $2000.00 in 1967! Just curious to find out if anyone knows how much a set like this would be worth today. Also, any other information you may have about the set would be helpful!
What happens to tv show sets after a show is cancelled? I am a really big fan of the show Gilmore Girls, which was recently canceled. The show takes place in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, and a whole town was built for this show. What I want to know is, what happens to really big sets like this one, and on other shows, after the shows get canceled? What happens to props and wardrobe, too? 10 points for best answer! In what ways do they "recycle" them? Also, what about wardrobe and props? And please, stop clogging this up with joke answers. If you don't know, just don't answer. Thanks!
What are some good TV show series DVD sets to buy? I love the old TV shows and am watching The Prisoner and Nowhere Man and The Avengers (with Diana Rigg). I also love Bewitched, I Dream of Jeanie, and Leave It To Beaver and Beverly Hill Billies. Any other good TV shows that you could recommend would be appreciated and also if you could tell me what sort of show it is and why you like it. Thank you. No. I hadn't heard of those shows 24 and The Hill. Thanks . I will have to check them out.
Are TV sets becoming obsolete? The reason I ask is i see every1 asking questions on how to get free movies or episodes of shows on their PCs. Which is fine but I have a small laptop screen & a 36 in TV set. Is it a matter of preference or what? I use my PC for communications & business & my TV & stereo (DVD player too) for entertainment. Clarification please? If you have a digital TV or cable/sattelite the "Digital Conversion of 09" won't affect you. If you have a digital TV or cable/sattelite the "Digital Conversion of 09" won't affect you.
The law and the new TV sets? The FCC has decided that a good, working TV will be obsolete, and we all have to buy new sets. Ok...I may be in the minority, but I don't care much for super life like images...I'd rather go into real life and see it. For those who do want an ultra crisp picture, let them get that new set, but don't force the rest of us to. I compare this to radio. I've had very old radios that still would work today using today's signals. There co-exists satellite radio on another bandwidth for higher quality programs, that those ppl who want it can pay for. Again, why, are we being forced to buy a new TV set, if what we have isn't broken, and if the individual doesn't want a newer TV. I smell a rat here, and wanna know what's REALLY going on.
will we need 2 change our tv sets or buy an add on piece 2 make out tv set recieve digital even when using ? a freeview box,,,,,,,,,,,,,i just dont understand this very well?
Two questions on HD TV sets? 1, What is smallest normal set they make in HD. Not talking pocket or very briefcase portable, but something like old portable TV sets. 2, How are TV sets currantly measured. Ordered what use to be small set and got something 75% bigger than expected. Thanks for any knowledegable answers.
How much is the cheapest digital tv set in the US? You can name the model/make and the approximate price. There will be no more analog signal in the US after Feb 2009 so I am looking into a digital tv. Yeah, I know I can buy a convertor box, but am looking for a new tv set. I was looking for the cheapest (lowest price) digital tv that can pick up a digital signal in 2009. Without regard to quality or screen size, just the bottom line price. Thanks.
What TV set has the best picture quality? Which TV set has the best picture quality? A sales assistant recommended Samsung for top picture quality. But what do you all think? I want to buy a large flat screen telly - say 40" - but don't want to spend my money on a low quality set.
Question about Dish DVR for 2 TV sets? I just ordered the DVR upgrade for my dish system... It has two satellite connections in the back to enable the recording of two shows at once. It also has two TV outputs. Do I need two satellites in order to watch live programming on two TV's at the same time? Or is the dual-satellite setup for recording purposes only? Thanks!
Do they have to Copyright Movie and TV sets? My question was, do they have to Copyright movie and TV sets? Do they apply for a copyright with the US Copyright Office? What do they have to include to copyright movie or tv sets? Do they have to include blueprints when they apply for a copyright? Is that information public domain? How can I find information on the specific movie I am trying to find set information about. For example, if I was curious about a Star Trek movie set they built, how can I find copyrights related to Star Trek sets that were applied for at the US Copyright office? And how can I then get copies of the sets I am interested in? Thanks very much for helping with my detailed questions! :)
Are all current TV sets HD-compatible? I'm thinking of getting a new 20" flat-panel TV, but I have a short question. Are all TV sets made after March 1, 2007 supposed to be HD-compatible? I'm asking this because I have a DVD player and game console that are capable of outputting progressive-scan signals via component wires, and if I get myself a new TV, I'd like to take advantage of this. If so, what would be a good model under $1000?
20 million for plasma TV sets - Why? he Post Office has installed Samsung plasma TV sets in every sorting office throughout the country at a cost of £20m, and in most cases they have not been used. Does anyone know why they thought this would be a good use of the cash? http://postalnews.co.uk/2007_07_01_archive.html
I am looking at two different TV sets, your input would help a lot!? The two sets I am looking at are a 50" Plasma 720p Vizio. The other is a 42" LCD 1080p Poloriod. I like the large screen and will have small children someday so the glass on the plasma would be great. It will be in the maain living/great room. I will be sitting 8-10 ft. away. I know that nothing runs in 1080p except bluray HD dvd's and video games. I will be playing Xbox 360 occasionally but will just watch regular DVD's. I would get the 50" in a heart beat but it's only 720p. I have seen the picture in person on both and they look the same and a great picture. I will be keeping this for a long time so I don't want to buy a 720p tv and then have verizon start broadcasting in 1080p or 1080i in 8 years and my picture look like crap. Oh well any comments would help. Thanks!
The CBS television show 60 Minutes recently has a share of 20, meaning that among the TV sets in use, 20%? The CBS television show 60 Minutes recently has a share of 20, meaning that among the TV sets in use, 20% were tuned to 60 Minutes. An advertiser wants to verify that 20% share value by conducting its own survey of 200 households with TV sets in use at the time of a 60 Minutes broadcast. The results show that among the 200 sets in use, 16% (or 32 sets) are tuned to 60 Minutes. Assuming that the share value of 20% is correct, a. Find the probability that in a survey of 200 households, exactly 32 sets are tuned to 60 Minutes. b. Given that the sample results of 16% is less than the claimed share value of 20%, is there strong evidence to conclude that the share value of 20% is wrong? Yes/No is not an answer!
HDTV conversion and old tv sets...? So, my question is what kind of a conversion box do I need to be able to watch the local news after the change to this HDTV stuff? I have a year and am starting to try to understand it. I've not been able to find anything online at the retail websites for a converting box for HDTV to watch on my old tv set. Please don't tell me it will cost hundreds of dollars, if it does I just won't watch tv anymore after the transition. :( On an aside, personally, I think this HDTV stuff is just a conspiracy to get people to buy new tv equipment. Do we really need to know what Jerry Springer's guests had for lunch, by getting a good look at their teeth? Nah. lol Where can one find the digital to analog converter? I just looked it up at Best Buy and Wal-Mart and neither one had it.
can you use one TV external antenna for multiple TV sets? We have one antenna on the roof, but it is only connected to my flat mate's TV in his room. I have an internal antenna which is OK, but not great with a Freeview, even though it's a signal amplifying still can't get some channels like Channel 5 for example... Anyway, i was wondering if there is a way of splitting the cable from the external antenna to extend it to my TV set. Would this be possible? Or any other ideas, please advise. Thanks Thank you all I'll try with a splitter. I do get C5 if i don't use the freeview box.
Any PS3 Linux Operating systems work with non-hd tv sets, maybe there are patches? I bought a PS3 instead of a 360, because I heard that I could get linux on it. Yes I'm a n00b at linux. I tried to install gentoo on ps3 but had no clue how to set it up and kept having to restart. I also heard that I have to have an hd tv with 720p or higher resolution to run it. If this is true is there any non-gentoo linux os that can run on an SDtv or that has patches to do so. PLZ I would really appreciate it. I don't have any omney to buy an HDtv right now. (Examples Fedora, Ubuntu, YDL, OpenSUSE, etc.)
What is this switching to HDTV all About? do we need to buy new tv sets? how do we know if our set i HDTV ready? i don't know how expensive these are? We currently have cable, but no box or converter, because we don't have any premium channels. Except when they conveniently show playboy for free, figure that out, when i pay 100 month for cable and phone service. What exactly do people need to do? i have old relatives and i know they will have no clue what to do.. they are in 70's and barely have a cable service.. they would rather have a basic tv with no cable.. they were only forced because of the rection and i told them they would get all the history chanels HELP
HDD tv-sets? ok can someone tell me: Do I have to change my TV or can I still keep it,if I have sky TV?

Split Halo 3 between 2 TV sets??? Is there any way to split the video signal of a single xbox 360 for a game(specifically halo 3) in a way that when playing 2 player 'splitscreen' one play can view only his screen on one TV and the other player can only see his screen on the other TV? This is in order to avoid screen watching.
Are South Africans starting buy HD ready TV sets.? End of November 2012 all analog TV transmitter will be switched off. It will all be digital from then on. ZXCV 2011 Sentech is going to be running both digital and anologue. Believe it or not they are acually doing trails as we speak now. How I know this I have friend that works at SENTECH. Aparently even the SABC is working with Siemans to upgrade to digital. But I expect Multichoise run digital first they are not held back by SENTECH. The Government is going to give people Boxes to convert analog to digital, the same way as the guy from Belguim is saying. But now the SABC can tell if you don't pay your TV liecence. Alf Yes Please don't tell the CIA.
Hip-Hop/Rap Video Where People Have TV Sets As Their Heads? PLEASE help! i saw this video so long ago on MTV, probably in 1999 or 2000. it was a hip hop video with a pretty catchy tune and all of the people in it had television sets in places of their heads, with their faces on the screens... and something else that sticks out are pigeons. pigeons were either in the video as well, or the name 'pigeon' was part of the artists' moniker. can anyone please help me find this song i lost touch with? id forever be grateful...
In 2009,will it be possible for the government to turn off our TV sets at their will with digital technology? Say, for instance, if the government hypothetically wanted to stop someone from watching a particular television broadcast on the new digital television format (starting in 2009), will the techology exist to allow such an interuption of a person's ability to receive certain television signals. For instance, if there is a cult in Waco, Texas, and they are hooked on a religious broadcast - - will the U.S. government simply be able to flip a switch and turn off their individual television sets? Does this technology exists within the new all digital television sets? Can they be individually identified, and can one tell what another person is watching on a digital television with the use of a special device that somehow reads what channel is being watched on a digital television set? Thanks. Any additional thoughts concerning this matter are certainly welcomed.
