My mate has connected his surround sound system to his lcd tv and it works all the time when watching the footie for instance. Does anyone know if I could do this with my System, or is it to old and only designed for use with DVD's. Its only a cheap ALBA 5.1 home cinema system by the way. Cheers. How would I do this then?, Would I have to have the DVD player on, or could I connect the tv straight up to the subwoofer?. I've checked in the back of the DVD player and the connections that are not connected up are: Video out 1+2, S-Video out, Optical-coaxial digital audio out. And on the back of the subwoofer all that is free are 2 chnl L+R. Any ideas cheers

Do we buy a Plasma or an LCD television? We've decided to go for a 40 or 42 inch screen and both plasma and LCD models are available. We are going to install Sky HD as well as we watch a lot of sport. I've heard that LCD is here to stay and that plasma will eventually disappear, a bit like the old Betamax videos did. I've also been told that Sony Corp. ONLY do LCD televisions now. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Any ideas on how I can fix the picture or is that common with LCD's?

What's the best budget LCD HD 32inch television to buy in the UK? I'm looking into buying a HD LCD television and would like it to be 32 inches. Preferably near the £400 mark and a brand that is reliable. Built in Freeview would be a bonus and wouldn't mind paying a bit more so that it has it. I realise that's a tough task but just in case anyone knows of any great deals around... I have seen these guys. They show lots of good customer feedback but then they probably wouldn't have bad ones on there? It's Evesham which I have heard of before I think to do with computers- anyone know if they'er ok? here's a link: http://www.lowestonweb.com/products/info.asp?e=1C3411D9-63BD-42B9-94D7-5476AC67A19E
What do I look for when buying a new flat panel LCD television? I'm not very knowledgable in electronics and I'm in the market to buy a new TV. I'm hoping to get as large a screen size as i can without compromising quality and affordability. Closer to 40" is perferable.

What am I doing wrong when connecting my laptop to my LCD television? I am running Windows Vista. I have a 7pin to 4pin S-Video Cable connecting my laptop to my TV. When the picture shows up, the icons on my desktop get extra large and so do the pop up windows. The internet doesn't fit on the screen. Is there any way to adjust the settings to have everything show up normally on the TV? I guess it's the same concept as hooking up a laptop to and external monitor. Appreciate your help.
What's the difference between a plasma and a LCD television? My boyfrined is wanting a 42" flat panel for our bedroom and he is very indecisive. Can you tell me what it means to be a LCD television? Shopping for a new TV and don't know the difference between LCD and Projection HDTV. Which is better and which lasts longer. I currently have a 52" RCA Projection TV that is about 9 years old and it needs replacing.
Sharp LCD Television Screen Discoloration, What to do? I have a Sharp Television (model LC-26SH10U) that has a severely discolored screen. The screen colors appear almost pastel color and look terrible. They also look fuzzy. Also, the image of a show is temporarily burned into the screen when I change channels. I have tried Sharp Customer Support but they didn't help at all. Any help?
Can anyone recommend, from personal experience, a good brand of LCD television? I've looked in the usual electronics stores but I've always had this fear that they may tweak certain models and brands to steer customers toward certain models. This may be unfounded but it is a concern. I'd like to know what experience consumers have with broadcast reception, both from a rooftop antenna and an indoor antenna. I like the Sony Bravia models but they seem cost prohibitive. Thanks! I'm only interested in a screen size in the 23" - 27" range. I'm not at all interested in plasma, only LCD. Any experiences with LG? Also, what about Philips or Polaroid?
We have a new LG 94cm LCD television and digital HDD recorder and are getting terrible reception at times.? The picture jumps all over the place, particularly if it is showing an outdoor scene or something complicated (ornate furniture in the Antiques Roadshow for example); you can hardly watch it. Then the next time it is turned on the picture is perfect. As we have been told we will be charged if the fault isn't in the television or HDD recorder (both under extended warranty) we want to rule out as many causes as we can before we take it to the repairer. It happens when you are watching the television o nly; when you are watching through the HDD recorder and even when you are viewing a recorded program. It is on all channels. The antenna is about 4 yrs old - is this likely to be the problem? Any advice gratefully received, as it is so disappointing to have a new system finally and then not being able to watch it some of the time.
How can I tell if an LCD television will accept a 1080p source.? I have been looking to buy an LCD tv. I have found a nice 1080p tv but it will not accept a 1080p source (sounds dumb, but from my research this seems fairly common). It takes other sources (1080i, 720p, etc) and upconverts it to a 1080p signal. I want a tv that is 1080p and will accept a 1080p source. How can I tell by looking at it in a store or online if it will accept it? Thanks for any help.

Why does my Olevia LCD television read "No Signal" when connected to my iPod via a component video out cable? I purchased an Apple brand component video out cable at Fry's. I plugged the cable into my iPod, into the power source, and into my television's component video inputs. The iPod recognizes that there is a component cable attached to it, and I switched the iPod's TV out setting to On. I also tried both the default video type setting and also the PAL setting, and I tried using both of the TV's two sets of component inputs. However, my Olevia LCD television reads, "No Signal" when on the appropriate source channel. How do I get the iPod to send the right signal to the television?
What is better for video a LCD monitor or LCD television??? Is FULL HD only larger than 32 inch? Will lower resolution DVD's look horrible on your LCD HD Televison or LCD HD monitor? I guess Sony is this best brand with its Live Color Creation. Is 100 Hertz better than 50 hertz? I thought CRT televisions already got 100 hertz. The store displayed analog signals horrible on LCD Television Screens! Movies that are shot with a normal camera and not HD camera on blue ray disc! The must be joking!
connect laptop to LCD television? I have Dell Inspiron 1501. I want to hook up to Samsung LCD television. On the TV manual, the diagram show I need 1.D-sub cable and 2. PC audio cable. On my laptop, there is only D-sub cable jack and no PC audio cable. Am I able to hear the sound from TV or I only hear the sound from my laptop? Does it work when I hook up like that?

Where to purchase extended warranty for LCD Television??? I am getting ready to purchase a Samsung LNT4061F 40" LCD television. I think I am going to purchase it from an online site called Vann's electronics. The price is great and there is no shipping or tax. My only problem is that a five year extended warranty on their site is going to cost $399.99. Where would you reccomend purchasing an extended warranty from at a cheaper cost. I found a web-site called D-TV express that says they have a 5 year in home plan for $139. That makes me skepticable but I"m not sure. I would like to purchase and extended warranty but preferrably at a price cheaper than $400 but I want a reliable reputable warranty. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that some people think extended warranties are a waste. I welcome comments on that as well but please help me find somewhere to purchase one should I decide to go the extended warranty route!!! Thanks a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do I stop pixels from vibrating on my LCD television while playing an NES hooked up with composite cables? The pixels seem to vibrate during any game I play. I know it's not the NES, so it must be the TV. It's a Polaroid widescreen LCD television and I'm using composite cables (yellow/red for video/audio). Is there an easy way to fix this problem? Note: When I turn the sharpness down, it seems to stop the vibrating, but then the picture is all blurry. If I can help it, I don't want to settle on a solution I'm not 100% satisfied with. Thanks!
Terrible LCD Television? Alright, back in August I received an HDTV that was going to go into my college dorm room. 19" Sanyo: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5585510 Now, this is probably the worst TV for me. I can't connect a 360 to it through HDMI because it has no HDMI port. The sound is horrible, and I can't stand the small size. It seems like a plot between Wal-mart and Sanyo to get people to but a bad LCD due to the switch-over coming in 2009. Now, the minute I found myself at home in August, I set this TV aside for my bigger and older SDTV, which even I prefer over this. It's been months. I called Sanyo, they say take it to Wal-Mart. I call Wal-mart, they say contact Sanyo. I don't have the receipt, but I would gladly take a credit from Wally for a better but more costly TV. Any Suggestions as far as what to do or Televisions that would be better? Eh, I want at least 26". I find it hard to play games on a small screen and enjoy them.
LCD Television picture quality, can anyone help? I have just bought a 40" Sony LCD TV (which was not cheap!) and the picture quality is not as good as you would expect. The edges of people seem quite fuzzy. It has built in Freeview so is digital, any ideas!?
LCD television question?!?!? i dont know if my LCD is HD or not because it was a gift and i cant ask that person who gave it to me @ the time...I want to know is there a way to identify if it is HD compatable..... NOTE: I SAW AN HDMI INPUT
Which LCD Television? I have been looking for a new LCD TV for around £200, and after a lot of research have narrowed my choices down to the following options: Samsung LE19R88BDX 19" for £250 or £300 with 5 year guarantee - majorly pushing the budget but worth it for a better name and reliability? Acoustic Solutions CTVL26W3HD 26" for £230 - much bigger than anything else I have found in the price range and seems to have good specs, but perhaps too good to be true? Cello E1906DVB 19" for £230 - good specs although again unknown brand, main selling point is a free 5 year guarantee. Sanyo CE20WLD25B 20" for £200 - cheapest with respectable specs and seems a good overall deal. What do you think would be the best choice? Shall I take a risk with a lesser known brand?
pc/lcd television? i have a vga connection on my computer but i dont have one on my lcd tv...it only has HDMI and dvi connection is there a cable i can buy so that i can use my tv as a monitor for my pc. please help.......thanks
New LCD Television vs. two young children - help? We just bought a 32" LCD tv. I have a 3-yr old and a 1-yr old. We need a TV stand or entertainment system or something for the tv and components (VCR, DVD player, 2 cable boxes, and some other box.) I'm worried about getting the typical stand where the TV is on top and everything else is housed underneath because I'm afraid the children will either knock into the tv and ruin the screen (don't know if that's even possible) or worse, be able to knock the tv right off the table or stand or whatever. We don't have a lot of money for a huge entertainment system. Just maybe one we can put together ourselves, but it's hard to find one large enough for the tv (need about 40" across just for the tv). Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on how to set up the tv as to not pose a danger to the kids or have the tv ruined in a day??
SAMSUNG lcd television R32 problem? Has anybody else had a problem with a R7 32 samsung television, mine had a faulty on/off switch which deleloped after just 3 months. Comet dragged their heels at first but then replaced the set. However I am worried the problem may develop again.
New Samsung LCD Television Question? i had a question. i just bought my lcd tv. there is just one problem. the tv does not recognize any of my HDMI inputs until one of them are turned on. is this normal. thanks ps. it does recognize all of my other inputs when they are off.
will it ruin the lcd television? hi, we have been thinking of buying a 50 inch lcd tv for a while now. we went viewing them last week but the guy in the shop put us off. he asked us where we were planning on having the tv, we told him on the wall above the fireplace, he said that because we have an open coal fire it would in time ruin the tv and it is not the best place to keep it unless we want to replace it often...does this sound right? we have seen plenty of people have the tv on the wall above the fire?
Can a hdmi port go out on a lcd television? My 52inch Samsung with 3 hdmi inputs was working fine until a couple a days ago when the 2nd and 3rd hdmi inputs loss sound and picture. Are these common problems with lcd televisions?
