Is it worth waiting a few months to by an LCD television?

I want an LCD television between 22-26inches. Prices in the store seem slightly cheaper than those on line, Do you think that the prices will come down further before the end of June?

  1. I think they will. I'm just abiding my time before I get one.
  2. just do it man
  3. Possibly slightly but not a big price drop, if you see a tv you like you'd be ok to buy it now. It also depends on if your going for a quality brand TV like Sony, JVC or Samsung which won't drop their prices a whole lot, cheaper brands may come down.
  4. Prices will come down, but by then a better, higher definition tv will be out,at a high price which will eventually come down in price.Don't wait forever,if you want LCD go for it now,or you could wait for the January sales!
  5. yes even today, there has been some shift.. keep watching
  6. It depends on the make and the model some hold there price longer than others but decide which one you want and shop around, Good luck.
  7. maybe the odd one or two types of tv but the whole market wont go down before june. now is just as good of time to buy a lcd tv. and if you look around on the internet you can find some real bargins im from the uk and i found my tv online for £420 and in the stores it was £550. just keep looking online and you'll find a good website with some real bargins and make sure its HD ready your tv otherwise it be out of date before the end of the year. hope this helps
  8. At the moment the tv market is a bit like the PC market. That is, there is always going to be a better or cheaper model avaiable from each manufacturer every 6-9 months. Prices can't really get much lower because retailers' margins can't accommodate that. What tends to happen is that the base price for the cheaper sets will level out at about £500 for a decent 26" from a good manufaturer. It will be the mid-range 32"-40" sizes that will stabilise at prices up to about £1200 but they'll become more sophisticated. That means that even if you wait until August or Bonfire Night there will still be a better/cheaper set in the shops almost as soon as you take yours out of the box. Remember that the HD standard has been effectively set in stone about 4 years ago, so by "better" I mean that the tv will have more "bells and whistles" or assorted input sockets etc. The basic picture standards are going to be substantially the same (maybe a better contrast ratio or viewing angle perhaps). Also, note that the current spate of tv price reductions has been driven by the rush of people to get rid of their old CRT sets (mostly perfecty good) just to buy a big "plasma". This market will soon saturate and their won't be such a desire for retailers to compete. In other words: if you see the tv that you like then buy it now. Don't hang around waiting for 'cheaper' or you'll never get it. If your current set is perfectly alright then don't sling it away just for the sake of it. Get a Freeview box for £20 to keep you going and wait until you really have to get a new tv. Then you won't have to worry about the price.
