Why does my LCD Phillips television show images from previous DVDS?

My Phillips LCD television is odd. If I play the playstation when I change back to watching a DVD I can see the images of the game I played still on the screen. This can be mild to really annoying. What is causing this can anybody tell me? It also does it from DVD to DVD.

  1. this is most definetly burn in , which bassicaly you need to buy a new tv , sorry...
  2. Plasma TVs can burn images in them if they are still to long. be sure to set a screensaver on your playstation if you pause it for an extended time. Also, on your TV, there should be a screen saving mode that will shift the screen slightly (you can't see it).
  3. because you have left the same picture on you tv screen for a long time and the image has burnt onto you screen, there no way of getting rif of it, so basicly your tv is fuked
  4. Burn in. Don't use that tv for watching pornos.
  5. For everyone that says "Ooh, LCD televisions don't suffer from screen burn", this is the proof that you are all wrong...
  6. if the images stay on the screen for more than a few seconds then unplug the sources (antenna/DVD player etc) turn the tv back on and put it on a normal channel (not an AV input) and leave the picture running on raster for a couple of hours or so-if this does not cure the problem then it is knackered i am afraid. along with twisted i too have maintained that LCD's are not immune from burn-in. in fact i would go as far as to say lately LCD sets have become more subsceptible to it because over time people have been led to beleive the myth thats says LCD sets are immune when in actual fact they are not and so have got complacent-whereas plasmas under two years old incorperate very effective anti-image sticking circuitry which along with an awareness of the problem in plasma tv's of the past has all but eliminated the problem in newer plasma sets. (for example my plasma will dim a static image by 60% if it has not moved in ten minutes-saved my LG a few times that has when i have fell asleep leaving something on pause!).
