3D projections from a disk?

I heard from someone that in the next 5-10 years that they would be coming out with a new Television that projected 3d images from a disk shaped object you could set anywhere.Is this true or am I getting my chain pulled.Also what would video games be like if this were true......?

1. You're probably getting your leg pulled. You realise, what is broadcasted on TV is a 2D flat image, received from a camera? to set up such a radical new technology would be too far off into the future, not to mention, where would this "hologram" be projected against?, with no medium (such as glass) but air? it's quite impossible to be able to retain such an image and as for video games ... , there's something else already called virtual reality, by looking through helmet LCD screens, etc
